7 Top Dyson Vacuums- A Comprehensive Guide

Dyson has a large variety of vacuums, sometimes in varying configurations and sub-models. The best thing is that it does not stop producing its older model, in case the newer ones outshine them. These vacuums are usually available at discounted rates as they reach the low end of the scale and eventually go out of production. Most of the time, the older models are available on sale even after Dyson stops manufacturing them.

Buying a vacuum can be perplexing since all the models have approximately the same description on their product page. You would think the Big Ball is the best one, right? And the V8 is the latest model since it is a number higher than the V7, no? Well, your theory is wrong. Let us help you make sense of Dyson’s reversed catalog.

The Outstanding Dyson

1. Dyson V11 Torque Drive

Stick vacuums are usually the most favorite of all, and it deserves to be. Their cordless and weightless design of 5 pounds makes them easy to handle and operate. The newest Dyson vacuum is equipped with a chip that changes the cleaning mode naturally based on the type of floor and the condition. It also has an LED screen at the top that displays the battery life, state of the filter, and signals when the filter needs to be washed or cleared. This vacuum possesses more suction power than the V7 model.

Although $600 is a bit too much, it will be totally worth it. Adrienne So, a senior writer at Wired, named it “Dream Vac” and gave it 8/10 points in her wired review. If it doesn’t suit you, consider buying the Animal version of the V11. The only difference between the two is that it does not have a LED screen.

Under your Budget

2. Dyson V8

Previously, we did not suggest the V8 because the updated version V10 was available at approximately the same price. But now, V8 is more readily available in the market, and that too at a discounted rate of $300. I know, it must sound a bit ironic to read the word “budget” and “$300 vacuum” in the same line but, it is as good as it can get. The handstick of this vacuum, like every other Dyson model, can be removed, converting it into a hand vacuum, so it performs the job of both while saving you money.

This vacuum has more power and runtime than the inexpensive V7, which is available for $300 nowadays. V8 has a runtime of 40 minutes as compared to V7’s 30 minutes. Generally, Dyson produces multiple sub-model for each of the vacuum with varying tools, but all three V8 sub-models- Absolute Pro, Animal Pro +, and Absolute- are fully furnished and comes with a wide-brush, crevice, dusting brush, automatic brush attachments, and roller head.

The Alternative Handstick Vacuum

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This model of Dyson is the best alternative if the V11 is a bit heavy on your pocket. It is the updated version of the famous V8 and V7. The Dyson Cyclone V10 offers features two times better than the V7 in a budget of $400. The suction power of the V10 is 55 percent more than the V7. It has a runtime of an hour, a dustbin 40% more spacious than the previous models, so you do not have to run to the trash can after every half hour. Like every Dyson model or sub-model, V10 captures 99.97% particles with a size of 0.3 microns and more.

Michael Calore, the senior editor at Wired, called Cyclone V10 “kick-ass” in his 2018 review and gave 8 points out of 10. The sub-models- the Motorized head and Animal- functions equally outstanding and are available at a cheaper rate. Most of the features of the sub-models are the same except for the attachments.

Works Great in Smaller Spaces

4. Dyson Big Ball Multi Floor Vacuum

It is hard to ram a stick vacuum in smaller spaces, such as apartments or trailers. Canister vacuums are a more feasible option for tight places. They give you more mobility as they are equipped with a thin suction tube. However, it requires repeated repositioning of the canister. It is well equipped with Dyson’s Cinetic technology, so there is no need to replace or wash the filter. Also, HEPA-grade filtration allows the vacuum to capture allergens and other micro-size particles.

The Handheld One

5. Dyson V7 Trigger Handheld

The Dyson V7 Trigger handheld vacuum has the same features as V7 except that it allows the long canister to be detached from the Cordless stick. If a vacuum is present in the house and all you need is a handheld for the couch, go for this model. It also comes in a car and boat version that offers more attachments, like a car charger.

Best for Pet Lovers

6. Dyson Ball Animal 2

This Dyson’s model is the most powerful and latest vacuum. Its suction power is three times more than the V7. It is an upright corded vacuum that is one of the strongest performers, but it can not be converted into hand vacuums. The main feature of the Ball Animal 2 is a tangle-resistant and powered attachment with counter-rotating brush heads that conveniently dig fur and pet hair out of carpets. It comes with two classic attachments; a narrow one and a wide one used for general cleaning around the house.

Dyson also has a sub-model known as the total clean. It has nine additional attachments and costs $600 which is a bit unfair. We would suggest you to stick to the Ball Animal 2.

Worth the Price

7. Dyson Ball Multi Floor Origin Upright

This vacuum is a good choice for people who do not idealize all the extra attachments with other vacuums. It is good on the budget since it is usually available on sale and costs around $200. It has the same power as Ball Animal 2 and comes equipped with a brush nozzle and a stair tool only. So, if you can not afford to buy the Ball Animal 2, you must go for the Multi Floor Origin.
